In a limited space, there are still endless possibilities.
This exhibition brings together works by three artists, each exploring different dimensions of artistic expression. Within the limitations of painting and sculpture, they create an expansive psychological space, reweaving concepts of time and space. Through the interplay between rationality and sensibility, subtle clues embedded within the works guide viewers along imaginative pathways in their minds.
Artist Leong Cheong-Fat constructs his own system of symbolic language through stone. Drawing on the unpredictable patterns and natural veining of the material, his sculptural forms curl, contract, wrinkle, and fold into overlapping layers. His works document various phenomena of contemporary society, everyday anecdotes, abstract conversations arising from interpersonal interactions, and the intersections between humanity and the natural world.
Artist Yong Jing-Yi uses white paint to establish boundaries between planes, formed between two distinct “points.” By representing emptiness, her paintings become part of the surrounding space or emerge as protruding objects within it, exploring the nature of objects that exist between painting, sculpture, and space.
Artist Chen Yi-Jui, meanwhile, heightens sensory perception through works that resemble clusters of thoughts or moments of time condensed into physical form. Their surfaces are uniform, smooth, and shimmering, with layers repeatedly overlapping, allowing the past to continually emerge as new images. Past and present coexist and intertwine, reflecting the invisible and intangible nature of everyday emotions.
Between abstraction and representation, the artists create heterogeneous spaces. In the future beyond the future, they seek to give life a profound and tangible meaning.
